Mrs Mustopa

My one and only sister will be here for my convocation this coming May. I so can't wait to bring her to Masjid Kampus UGM and astonish her with a national library of religious books there. *finger crossed*

i think i like raisins

Nice of my housemate's girlfriend to give us some Ponggal rice - rice that cooked with fresh cow's milk, raisins, cashew nuts and brown sugar in an earthen pot. Actually, it was Thai Ponggal festival for all Hindus on Wednesday, as it begins in the harvesting month of Thai. One of the celebration is cooking Ponggal rice; as a way of saying grace to god for bountiful harvest.

On the next day, there were still some Ponggal rice ingredients that left over from previous day, so she decided to finished them up and cook another pot of Ponggal rice without saying grace or reciting a prayer.

In short, it was my first experience eating Ponggal rice and I couldn't resist a second helpings.

The Khutbah

It is common here to see the Imam reading Friday sermon without actually reading text. But yesterday was a different experience, at least for me. Not because the sermon was delivered by the Imam reading the text, but what struck and touched me most was the sermon itself. I do not know its exact title, but it was related to Palestinian suffering and war in Gaza.

So my holiday is officially over

and the mission, is accomplished; no movies at cineplex, no vacation, no shopping and no spending.

Plus, I've learned new thing:

If you hate yourself, go film yourself!
